Recent History
Interland was originally founded in the Spring of 1998 by Mr. Peter Krembs whom is now an active Citizen and Member of the Lyrican Parliament. Interland was originally called "The Republic of Interland" and was a prosperous Republic with many dozens of participating peoples.
Sectarian political schisms caused the original Republic of Interland to collapse, around the time of Christmas 1998 the Republic of Interland was reborn under the new name "The Federal Republic of Interland" and many referred to this as the Second Republic.
Political turmoil was rekindled when Founder and President Peter Krembs cracked down on partisan activity to stabilize the Federal Republic, but in doing so was viewed by many as exercising dictatorial power, thus a Coup D'etat ensued, and President Krembs was ousted. The Second Republic then lived on a few more weeks and went through many governmental changes, and finally nearly ever citizen of Interland resigned his or her public office. The Second Republic finally collapsed by Summer of 1999.
During that period of time Mr. Peter Krembs had taken over the Interland Province of Lyrica, and proclaimed the Republic of Lyrica as separate Republic, today Alteria and Lyrica have signed a Peace Treaty. Interland and Lyrica are no longer enemies, and no long view each other as renegades.
Julian Starr whom had joined at the formation of the Second Republic, and lead the largest Political Party in Interland, never resigned his position in Interland, and then on May 22, 2000, after a small convention of citizens, Julian Starr was elected President of Interland and promptly proclaimed the Third Republic.
The Third Republic was the first truly stable government Interland had, and then started to establish diplomatic relations with the Alterian Federation and the Republic of Terra Firma, which became Interland's main democratic allies. By the autumn of 2000, Interland formally joined the Alterian Federation on November 18, 2000 along with the Republic of Terra Firma, to form a larger great union bearing the name of the Alterian Federation.
August 29, 2000 before Interland joined Alteria, President Julian Starr launched the first common defensive alliance among Micronations, called the Micronational Defense Treaty, thus Alteria has inherited the governance of the Organization.
January 26, 2001 The French Language was made the second official language of the Alterian State of Interland by Presidential proclamation.
April 16, 2001 Chairman Julian Starr of the Alterian Federation, issues the "Disbandment" of the Federation, and Interland proclaims its independence. Thereafter the third Interland Republic is proclaimed.
April 30, 2001 Yuri Andropov "leaves" the People's Republic of the New Soviet Empire to form the People's Republic of Interland, only www.micro-nations.org recognizes the Socialist Republic.
June 6, 2001 The Republic of Interland adopts Emperor Edward of Pacifica as Head of State.
August 12, 2001 Interland becomes an independant nation and the Fourth Commonwealth is born
